Prominent rapper facing drug charges in Georgia

A rapper who goes by the stage name Young Thug was arrested along with two other men in Brookhaven on suspected drug-related activities. Georgia authorities said the three men were pulled over during the week of Oct. 7. All three men are now facing drug charges and will appear in a Georgia court soon.

The details of the arrest are unclear from the report, but it has been confirmed that Young Thug was pulled over after police noticed his tinted windows. Georgia law states windows cannot be more than 32 percent darker than normal windows, and officers say they believed his were in violation of that law. Once the vehicle was pulled over, a search was initiated by police. No reason was given in the report.

In searching the car, police found what they believe to be narcotics, codeine, various pills of indeterminate origin, as well as two guns and a large sum of cash. Among the substances seized, police believe, are ecstasy, Xanax and marijuana. All three men now face charges of drug possession, and it is unknown if any of them have secured legal counsel as of this report.

In order to prove that Young Thug and his compatriots are guilty of the drug charges filed against them, Georgia prosecutors will have to provide compelling evidence. Prosecutors are bound by law to prove beyond reasonable doubt that an individual is indeed guilty of the crime of which he or she has been accused. In opposition, experienced defense counsel would scrutinize evidence and reports in an effort to build an effective defense for the accused individual.
